Psykiatri Södra Stockholm Stockholms läns sjukvårdsområde

The First Contact

The patient’s first contact with psychiatry can have significant consequences for the recovery process. The meeting with the staff should occur without delay and be characterised by respect.

To feel well received and to experience being listened to by a professional caregiver, can lay the foundation to a well-functioning co-operation between the person seeking help and psychiatry.

Emergancy day duty

Our outpatient units are located in the community in different parts of the catchment area and are designed to be able to receive, without waiting time, acute telephone calls and visits from people seeking psychiatric help. At the unit one comes into direct contact with experienced staff for an assessment of which help is best suited to one’s needs. If needed, already during the first assessment session, contact can be established with the member of staff who is to assigned to continue the treatment.

The units’ emergency times are weekdays from 8.00 to 16.30.

Central emergancy duty

Weekdays between 16.30 and 08.00 as well as round the clock during the weekends, Psykiatrin Södra has a common “Central emergency duty” to which all those living in the catchment area can turn.

Those who turn to our own central emergency duty come into contact with someone who knows our organisation very well. This makes it possible to receive adequate help without going through a series of different channels.
Within Psykiatrin Södra there are no waiting times in emergency situations. The person who needs help should be able to come in contact with the right person immediately.
